FAQs

WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR MY DOG TO COME TO HOUNDS LOUNGE?

We take simple but necessary precautions.

For the health and safety of our guests, dogs entering Hounds Lounge for boarding or cage free play must have proof of the following vaccinations:

Required Vaccines:

  • Rabies Vaccine (1 or 3 year)
  • Bordetella Vaccine (encouraged every 6 months)
  • Annual DHPP Vaccines (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvovirus)
  • Canine Influenza (both strains h3n2 & h3n8) Only required for out-of-state clients. Must have completed two booster vaccines that cover both strains of canine flu.

Recommended Vaccines:

  • Leptospirosis

Foster pups & newly adopted fur kids are always welcome at the Lounge although, we require these dogs to be in your care for a minimum of two weeks to ensure they are healthy before visiting the Lounge.

You or your vet can email proof to us, you can upload to your profile by logging in to your account on our website or as soon as your first reservation is requested, we will then contact your vet to request vaccinations.

We require all furry guests to be on a flea/tick preventative. If fleas or ticks are found on your fur kid while visiting us, we will administer Capstar for flea relief and/or NexGaurd for tick relief after consulting with you or your vet. We will also spray your woof with an all natural flea/tick spray as an extra precautionary step. Pet parents will be responsible for the any additional cost for administering flea/tick meds and sprays.

HOW OLD DOES MY PUPPY HAVE TO BE TO PLAY OR STAY AT THE LOUNGE?

As always, the health and safety of the dogs in our care is our number one concern. It’s recommended that puppies get their final round of adult vaccines at 12 weeks and puppies are welcome at Hounds Lounge two weeks after all completed vaccines.

WHAT IS THE SPAY AND NEUTER POLICY?

Females that have had their first heat cycle, cannot return until spayed. If your female furry kid goes into heat while playing or staying with us, we will make every attempt to call you or your emergency contact for immediate pick up. If we are unable to reach you or your emergency contact, we will have no other choice but to board at a local vet office and you are responsible for the charges.

Males are allowed to pawticipate in off –leash play up to 12 months old, unless behavior becomes an issue. The safety of our furry guests is our number once concern. Private retreat option is available most times on a case by case basis depending on volume and if we’ve met our private retreat capacity for unaltered males that cannot pawticipate in off-leash play.

ARE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED?

Reservations are required for grooming services and are preferred for overnight stays although we understand life happens and we will always try to accommodate. No reservations are required for daycare after your first day, a successful temperament test, and once your pup is up to date on required vaccines.

WILL MY DOG SIT IN A CAGE ALL DAY?

NO! At Hounds Lounge we want your dog to have a full day of exercise and socialization. If your dog does not socialize well with others or upon request or our discretion, your dog can have their own personal suite all day and will still be taken for one on one play with our trained humans to our outdoor play area for fresh air and potty breaks.

SHOULD I BRING MY DOG’S FOOD WHEN BOARDING?

We strongly encourage you to bring your dog’s food when over-nighting with us. Sometimes new foods can upset your dog’s belly. If you cannot or would rather not bring your dog’s food, or if we run out during your dog’s stay with us, we will be happy to feed them our house dog food at no additional charge. When providing personal food, we ask that you bag each individual bag of food in zip lock bags because your scoop may be different than our scoop and this ensures that your fur kiddo has the same portion as at home. We do not have the space for large dog food bins or dog food bags.

CAN I BRING MY DOG’S FAVORITE TOYS?

We cannot allow toys simply because dogs will be playing in group settings during the day and some dogs may not share well with others. You are welcome to pack a couple of your dog’s favorite toys to enjoy when they are in their private suite. Chew sticks & antlers are welcome; but please no rawhides, squeaky toys or rope toys.

CAN I BRING MY DOG’S BED?

There’s no need! We provide each personal suite with a raised Kuranda Bed. Kuranda beds are orthopedic and combine soft, off the floor comfort that is chew resistant.  If you insist, beds are allowed but please be aware that sometimes when dogs are out of their usual comfort zone they may destroy beds.

CAN ALL OF MY DOGS STAY TOGETHER IN ONE SUITE?

Yes! We actually encourage dogs from the same home to stay together. Dogs from the same family that stay overnight in the same suite will receive a discount.

WILL HOUNDS LOUNGE ADMINISTER MY DOG’S MEDICATION?

Absolutely! We will administer your dog’s medication while staying with us. We ask that you bring the medication in the original medicine bottle because this ensures that our staff will not have an allergic reaction to the medication. Please do NOT put medicine in dog food.

CAN I TAKE A TOUR OF HOUNDS LOUNGE?

Absolutely! Tours are available outside of our peak hours. We welcome you to see where your dog will be staying and playing! Monday thru Friday please visit between 10a-3p or after 6:30p; Saturdays between 10a-5p and Sundays between 12p-3:30p.

WILL MY DOG BE TAKEN ON WALKS WHILE STAYING AT HOUNDS LOUNGE?

Sorry, we cannot take dogs on walks outside of our facility simply because outdoor environments are a risk. By taking dogs on walks, we risk the chance of your dog stepping on glass, eating something harmful or escaping from a leash. We understand exercise is important which is why we have large indoor and outdoor play yards.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY DOG GETS SICK OR INJURED AT HOUNDS LOUNGE?

Our professional staff is CPR and Pet First Aid certified. We will make every attempt to contact you or your emergency contact if there happens to be any illness or injuries. If we cannot reach you, Hounds Lounge will seek veterinary attention. In this case, all veterinary costs will be the pet owner’s responsibility. We treat each furry guest as our own at the Lounge.

WHY IS MY PUP SO SLEEPY AND THIRSTY AFTER VISITING HOUNDS LOUNGE?

Rest assured that a sleepy pup is very normal. After hours of play and mental stimulation, expect your pup to be tired. Your pup may also be very thirsty after their visit. We offer fresh, clean water all hours of the day for your pup, but much like a kid, group play is sometimes a distraction.

WHAT ARE THE HOURS THAT I CAN PICK UP/DROP OFF MY DOG?

Our lobby hours are 7 a.m.- 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. on Sundays. However, we will have staff at the facility 24 hours a day and you may have access to your dog outside of our lobby hours with prior arrangements. If you want to pick up your dog outside of lobby hours, you MUST make prior arrangements with our staff and additional fees will apply. We do reserve the right to refuse late pickup at any time.

WHAT ARE YOUR HOLIDAY HOURS?

We understand that holidays can be a stressful time to find a safe and happy place for your four-legged family members. We anticipate a full house on such holidays and reservations are required. We reserve the right to charge 50% of your reservation total for boarding no shows or last minute cancellations during peak times.  Cancellations should be made online, via email, text or by phone 72 hours before check in to avoid penalty charges.

Our lobby will be closed on Easter, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day & New Year’s Day. This means no drop offs or pick ups. Just because our lobby is closed doesn’t mean that your dog will not receive special attention. Your dog will be fed breakfast and dinner as usual and will still get to participate in group play like any other day.

For New Year’s Eve, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Christmas Eve, we will have limited hours for drop off & pick up. Please inquire with our humans.

We will be open normal business hours for Spring Break.
